Ireland Walking Holidays

Sherpa Expeditions is now Walkers' BritainTo celebrate, have dinner on us!

An island in the Atlantic Ocean 80km to the west of Britain across the Irish Sea, Ireland stretches 500km from its northern to southern tips. Full of fascinating myths and legends, Ireland is a land of rich history and culture. With a population of 3.96 million this is a land famous for its welcoming pubs, music and oratory tradition.

The interior is largely made up of flat countryside, raised bogs and gentle rolling hills - a perfect setting for a walking holiday. The contrasts continue; from the bustle of a crowded Dublin street to the calm of a country pub with the sound of "the Craic," bodrum and fiddle flowing out into the street, like the velvet-creamy Guinness flowing into a pint glass.

Popular Walking Routes in Ireland

Our self-guided walking holidays in Ireland focus on the Wicklow Way. Here you can enjoy some of the scenic splendours of Ireland's Wicklow Mountains and the legendary Irish hospitality, starting from the small village of Clonegal and heading for the outskirts of Dublin, discovering the beauty of the national park, Lough Tay, and Enniskerry along the 130km route through wild but tranquil scenery.

But there are more walking trails in Ireland. Along the Dingle Peninsula for example, explore medieval hamlets and archaeological monuments. Dingle Peninsula is the jewel of Ireland's west coast and historic Glendalough is home to one of Ireland's most important ancient monasteries.

Personal Experience of Ireland

Our team have been walking in Ireland for over 4 decades. We are passionate about the trails in Ireland, active holidays and delivering exceptional service. Combined, we’ve travelled to virtually every corner of the UK & Europe and bring a multi-disciplined, multicultural and whole-hearted love of all things travel.

Reducing waste

Our Waste Management Policy encourages our travellers to take their own reusable water bottles, coffee cups and reusable stuff sacks to avoid single use plastics. In the mountains of the Pyrenees and Mont Blanc our local partners reduce the amount of packaging taken on tour and ensure all waste is carried out from refuges that do not have road access to help dispose of it properly.

Supporting local

In the regions that we travel tourism is the main source of income for many local people. We support them by only working with local family run hotels and suppliers so your money supports the community that hosts you.

Paddock to Plate

The paddock to plate across Europe is one we encourage by choosing to work with accommodations that source produce from local farms. This provides you with fresher meals and ensures your money directly assists local economies.
