Self Guided Walking Holidays in Ireland

Discover the emerald isle of Ireland on a self guided walking tour

An island in the Atlantic Ocean 80 km to the west of Britain across the Irish Sea, Ireland stretches 500 km from its northern to southern tips. Full of fascinating myths and legends, Ireland is a land of rich history and culture. With a population of 3.96 million this is a land famous for its welcoming pubs, music and oratory tradition.

The interior is largely made up of flat countryside, raised bogs and gentle rolling hills - a perfect setting for a walking holiday. The contrasts continue; from the bustle of a crowded Dublin street to the calm of a country pub with the sound of "the Craic," bodrum and fiddle flowing out into the street, like the velvet-creamy Guinness flowing into a pint glass.

Our self-guided walking holidays are fully flexible which means you can normally start your walk on any day during the season and customise by adding extra days for resting or sightseeing. As you're walking independently, you're free to follow the trail at your own pace. You set your own pace as you are not limited by the constraints of group travel. You are free to shorten or lengthen your walk as the terrain permits and can even take a day off, although you may need to travel onto your next accommodation by taxi or public transport in order to do so. As long as you are reasonably active you will be able to find a suitable tour and all of our tours are graded to help you choose the right walk for you.

Bed & breakfasts (B&Bs)

Simple yet rich in local character, the B&Bs chosen are clean, comfortable and run by hosts that help add to your experience.

Similar to bed & breakfasts, these family-owned accommodations are clean and comfortable. Rooms with en suites generally have a shower but no bath due to space. There may be a separate room with a bath tub.

Country Inns

Enjoy the cosy country setting and convenience of staying in a comfortable property that is attached to a pub with rooms usually above.

Breakfast is included in all our trips and you may wish to tuck into a Full Irish to start your day.  After a days walk why not try a traditional lamb stew, oysters or seafood with soda bread or colcannon on the side.  Experience the craic in one of the many local pubs with a pint of Guinness or an Irish whiskey in hand.
