Cork and Kerry between them contain much of what Ireland does best, and walking is undoubtedly the best way to appreciate it.

The Iveragh and Beara peninsulas reach into the Atlantic with a drama that feels almost outsized for a small island. The mountains here are old and rounded, the bogs vast and open, the coastlines switching between sheltered harbours and sheer sea cliffs without much warning.

Beyond the famous landscapes you'll find picturesque villages where age-old traditions persist, local produce that reflects the richness of the land and sea, and a culture of hospitality that makes every day's walking end well. Routes here range from gentler coastal paths to longer multi-day trails covering upwards of 150 kilometres / 93 miles, and all of them deliver far more than the postcards suggest.
