Meet the Walkers' Britain Team: Tali, GM
In this article about the Walkers' Britain staff, we ask Tali Emdin, the passionate General Manager of Walkers' Britain, about her past travel experiences, her key motivations to explore the world, and her top advice to use while on the road. Find out more about what makes Tali so enthusiastic about active travel holidays.
Where have you travelled in Europe and the world?
Growing up in Australia, I always wanted to see what was out there before settling down.
My first overseas trip was an overland expedition through East Africa, backpacking in the Middle East and then to London to work. This enabled me to backpack through a lot of Europe including France, Spain, Austria, The Netherlands & The Czech Republic.
Since then adventures have included trekking in Nepal, walking the Inca Trail, touring Sri Lanka, cruise to the Antarctica Peninsula, hiking the Larapinta Trail, exploring Alaska, travelling on the Trans Siberian Railway, hiking part of the Camino de Santiago, walking in Tarn & Aveyron. Living in London also allows for long weekends away in different parts of Europe.
What is your preferred style of active travel holiday? Walking, cycling, bike and barge...?
Definitely walking & hiking...I'm not super keen on cycling unless there is an electric bike on offer!

What is your next trip on the horizon for you?
On the distant horizon back to Australia to visit family with an Asia stopover, otherwise a staycation to the
South Downs for some coastal walking and a trip to Malta. Love to walk in the Lake District over Christmas as well. Always a long list of travel plans!
What is your favourite travel memory?
As any traveller knows, there's always too many to single one out! One that jumps to mind is when I was sitting on a beach in Katmai National Park, Alaska, watching bears fish for salmon. This was something I had wanted to experience for 20 years before it became a reality. It's moments like those that stick with you forever.
What is your top travel tip?
Don’t solely rely on your technology to tell you everything or get you somewhere. Speak to people, eat where the locals do, learn some basic phrases. Then you will really become immersed in the local environment and get beneath the skin of a nation!
What is your favourite travel-related activity?
Sampling beers & wines from around the world!
