Want to hike with new friends?Join a group trip

Discover the ‘Dolce Vita’ lifestyle on one of our walking holidays in Italy. Our wide range of affordable, active trips features the perfect blend of cultural and natural treasures to ensure your Italian experience is as unique as the country itself. From the heights of the Dolomites to the colourful meadows of Tuscany and the dramatic coastline of Italy’s south, explore Italy on foot with Walkers’ Britain & Europe.

Choose from superb hiking routes in the north of the country. The chiselled limestone peaks of the Dolomites, with the valleys around Cortina, Corvara and the Marmolada glacier, continue to draw mountain walkers seeking landscapes unlike anywhere else in Europe. Still in the Alpine theme, the Apuane Alps in northern Tuscany offer less intimidating limestone massifs rising to around 2,000m, cloaked in chestnut forests and dotted with small villages on terraced vineyards and orchard slopes.

Alternatively, enjoy the delights of Italy’s lakeland scenery on a walking trip around Lake Como, explore the stunning paths of the Amalfi Coast, or opt for a short break in the little travelled Cilento region.

Heading west to the Italian islands, you can walk in Sardinia along coastal routes and into rugged interior mountains, discovering long white beaches, turquoise coves and even flocks of flamingos at certain times of the year.

Flexibility & Choices for Your Italy Trip

Cycling or walking, 2 star or 4 star, small international groups or self guided, land or sea - we can help you discover Italy exactly the way you want.

Travel with experienced mountain guides

Our guided walks in the mountain regions of Italy are led by bilingual, experienced professionals who know the region well. Every guide is first-aid trained and carry appropriate communication devices with them in case of an emergency.

Support of local businesses

Whenever possible, we offer hospitality in family run accommodation, purchase food in local markets and dine in small restaurants.

Employment of local guides

We respect and abide by the working standards required by the Italian law, operating with a strategy that involves employees in our decision making process and allowing them to enjoy a profit share arrangement.

Reducing waste

Our Waste Management Policy encourages our travellers to take their own reusable water bottles, coffee cups and reusable stuff sacks to avoid single use plastics. In the mountains of the Pyrenees and Mont Blanc our local partners reduce the amount of packaging taken on tour and ensure all waste is carried out from refuges that do not have road access to help dispose of it properly.

Supporting local

In the regions that we travel tourism is the main source of income for many local people. We support them by only working with local family run hotels and suppliers so your money supports the community that hosts you.

Paddock to Plate

The paddock to plate across Europe is one we encourage by choosing to work with accommodations that source produce from local farms. This provides you with fresher meals and ensures your money directly assists local economies.

The European Union will inform about the specific date for the start of ETIAS several months prior to its launch.

see https://travel-europe.europa.eu/etias_en

Until then, visas not required for citizens of Australia, Canada, USA and New Zealand for up to 90 days in a period of 180 days for all Schengen countries (see https://home-affairs.ec.europa.eu/policies/schengen-borders-and-visa/visa-policy_en . Please ensure your passport is stamped on arrival in the Schengen area. For all other nationalities and for longer stays in countries covered by the Schengen Agreement (Australian New Zealand, Canadian and US passport holders), please contact the relevant embassy. Stays of longer than 90 days in the Schengen area require a long stay visa for the country you are spending most time in.
